Dear Freedom Shores Families and Friends

By the time you read this newsletter our Safety Patrols will have just returned from an exciting and educational trip to Washington, D.C. We were in constant contact with our students and chaperones via Twitter. Freedom, our special friend, sent many pictures and tweets during the trip keeping us informed of their adventures. We also enjoyed a fantastic Multicultural Fiesta last week here at school. Please encourage your children to participate in the Read With Us program and join the online book discussions. This month I am reading Stink and Dr. Maupin is reading Brendan Buckley's Universe.

May will be another busy month so please watch your child's backpack for information about school events. The few days we have school in June will be filled saying goodbye to our 5th Grade Soaring Eagles and volunteers. The Moving on Ceremony is scheduled for June 2 at Santaluces High School Auditorium.

As we close another school year, simultaneously we begin the preparation for another opening in August. I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that we will mail home your child's homeroom class assignment for next school year during the month of August. Teachers will be sending home summer reading lists and work packets that will assist students to continue their academic progress between June and August.

I look forward to your continuing support as we celebrate the closing of another productive school year. Have a safe and relaxing summer vacation.
